NID made mandatory for BCS exams

No-one will be able to apply for Bangladesh Civil Service exams without national identity cards or NID.

The Public Service Commission took the decision at its meeting on Thursday, and it will be effective from the 38th BCS examinations.

NID numbers will be made mandatory for online applications as well.

“If NID is needed to buy a SIM card or open a bank account, then it should be mandatory for BCS exams too,” PSC Chairman Muhammed Sadique said.

Asked if anybody does not have an NID, Sadique said the candidate will not be allowed to complete the exam. “No-one below 18 is applying for the exam.”

“Currently, only the name and a photo are provided with the filled-out form. It won’t be possible to find out if someone has changed the photo,” he added.

The notice calling for applications for the 38th BCS exams against 2,100 posts will be published later in June.

For the first time, candidates will be able to take the exam in either Bangla or English.
