Ilias Ali’s wife finally allowed to go abroad

Tahsina Rushdir Luna, wife of BNP leader M Ilias Ali, was allowed to fly for London on Wednesday morning one hour after she was again barred by the immigration officers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka.

“I was blocked at the immigration point of the airport around 9:30am. They allowed me to travel an hour later,” Luna told reporters.

On Sunday, Luna, a deputy registrar at Dhaka University, was scheduled to go to London with her two other children on a Biman Bangladesh flight. However the immigration officers at the airport obstructed her without any reason.

The authorities concerned were ordered by the High Court on Monday to allow her to go to the UK to attend her son’s graduation ceremony after hearing a petition filed by her challenging the legality of the obstruction put on her.

BNP Organizing Secretary Ilias Ali, also a former lawmaker from Sylhet, along with his driver, went missing from the capital’s Banani area around midnight on April 17, 2012.

It is claimed by BNP that the government agencies had a hand behind his disappearance.
