President calls for quality university education

President Abdul Hamid has called upon the universities of the country to take necessary measures to ensure quality education for the university students.

President Hamid made the call when Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) Major General Md Salahuddin Miaji made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban in the capital on Monday afternoon.

Joynal Abedin, Press Secretary of the President, briefed reporters after the meeting.

“Ensure quality of higher education so that the students can cope with the world competition,” Joynal quoted the President as saying.

Abdul Hamid, also the Chancellor of the university, directed the BUP VC to set up an example of quality education for other universities to follow.

The BUP VC expressed gratitude to the President for providing all-out supports to run the institution and also apprised him of the overall activities, including recent infrastructural development, outstanding activities and future plan of the university.

Seeking the President’s cooperation and direction in running the university activities properly, Major General Miaji also informed him that the BUP would introduce a “Bangabandhu Chair” to carry out research on life and works of Bangabandhu.

Secretaries concerned to the President were present during the meeting.
